Emerging Artist Showcase Results!
Last Saturday I competed in the Emerging Artist Showcase, which was part of the Sea Level Singer/Songwriter Festival, and I ended up winning the whole thing! There were 10 finalists and we each performed one song and then the judges narrowed it down to 3 contestants (Jared Swift, Will Overman, and myself). We performed another tune and then they luckily announced me as the 2013 Emerging Artist winner.
The two songs I performed were “Big Blue Ball” and “Livin’ Alone.” Above is my performance of “Big Blue Ball.” Enjoy!

Sea Level Emerging Artist Showcase

So I found out the other day that I was chosen as one of ten finalists for the Emerging Artist Showcase, which is part of the overarching Sea Level Singer/Songwriter Festival. I’m stoked!
Now the next step is to perform my two original songs, that I entered into the contest, at The Attucks Theater in Norfolk on Saturday April 6th. The Emerging Artist Showcase will run from 7-9:30pm with one winner being chosen at the end of the night.
Last year, my bandmate in Reckless Passengers, Nate Sacks, won the contest and so this year I’m hoping I’ll follow in his footsteps and take home the songwriting crown. So please feel free to come out and support.
In addition to the Emerging Artist Showcase on April 6th, there will be many other concerts and music-related events taking place during the Sea Level Singer/Songwriter Festival. It will run from April 4th-6th and the whole festival is a benefit for the Tidewater Arts Outreach organization. This non-profit’s main goal is to get music and arts to people who unfortunately cannot go out to experience these events for themselves due to illness.
So once again I hope you’ll come out to the Showcase on April 6th to support me and most importantly Tidewater Arts Outreach.

New recordings up!
My band, Reckless Passengers, recently released a live album, aptly titled “Live at Doc Taylor’s.” I hope you’ll take some time to check out 3 tracks from it here — www.soundcloud.com/recklesspassengers.
Thanks!

The Best Singer/Songwriter You’ve Never Heard Of
This man is a LEGEND. His name is Darrell Scott and if you get a chance, check him out. I was lucky enough to hear him perform live a few weeks ago. His songwriting is such an inspiration for what I try and do with my music.
